mindfulSF is dedicated to supporting people with living full and meaningful lives. We provide science driven mental health services and corporate wellness trainings. All of our services are grounded in collaboration, curiosity, cultural humility, and compassion.

Who We Are
Sarah Carr, LMFT (she/her)
Founder/CLINICAL director
Sarah specializes in helping teens and adults navigate OCD, anxiety disorders (social, generalized, phobias, panic), depression, work stress, and body-focused repetitive behaviors. She is trained in evidence-based treatments that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC).
Sarah has attended over a dozen multi-day residential mindfulness retreats and is a Certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher. Sarah also has extensive training in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and has completed the Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy Intensive through the Ketamine Training Center and IFS Institute. She is also currently enrolled in a 9-month intensive training program in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy at UC Berkeley.
Sarah is passionate about supporting people with moving towards their goals by helping them to connect to what is most meaningful in their lives. She is committed to working with LGBTQ+ folx and people of diverse intersectional identities. Compassion, humor, curiosity, and cultural humility are foundational components of Sarah’s approach to helping others.

Susan Ono, PsyD (she/her)
clinical psychologist
Susan works with children, teens, adults and families. She specializes in treating anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, life transitions, parenting issues, and grief and loss. Susan is trained in a variety of modalities that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, Trauma Recovery, and Functional Family Therapy (FFT).
Susan has completed intensive training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and Prolonged Exposure (PE) for trauma through the Cognitive Behavior Institute. Susan has also completed 40 hours of intensive training in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and Integration through Inbodied Life and continues her studies in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy through a professional consultation group.
Susan has 20 years of experience working with diverse multicultural populations, providing clinical supervision, and training for psychology, social work and MFT interns. At the heart of her therapeutic work is the centrality of relationships. Susan works from the foundation that people are the experts of their own lives. Her approach is collaborative, strength-based and grounded in cultural humility.

Karla Wood, ASW (she/her)
Associate Clinical Social Worker
Karla has a Master’s Degree in Social Work and is a registered Associate Clinical Social Worker with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Karla works with teens and adults navigating life transitions, trauma, anxiety and depression. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Emotionally-Focused Therapy and Trauma Informed Care.
Prior to joining mindfulSF, Karla worked as a community-based clinician serving children and families who have been impacted by the child welfare system. Karla is passionate about improving the well-being and outcomes of marginalized and underserved populations, and committed to advancing social justice and equity in her work. Karla receives ongoing training and supervision from Sarah Carr, LMFT (104418) in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention, Mindfulness, and Self-Compassion.
Karla holds a safe and non-judgmental space for her clients to identify their needs and act in alignment with their values. She is committed to partnering with her clients to gain insight and connection, communicate with clarity and strength, practice self-compassion, and feel better as they progress towards their goals.

Jennifer Re, LMFT (she/her)
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Jennifer supports teens, adults, parents, couples and families with navigating challenges across developmental stages. She is experienced in treating anxiety, phobias, OCD, body-focused repetitive behaviors, depression, burnout and trauma, as well as mild eating disorders and substance use disorders.
Jennifer is especially committed to supporting Autistic people and their families with thriving and building satisfying relationships. Jennifer has lived experience with neurodivergence, and has trained and researched to deeply understand different neurotypes, allowing her to offer care that is affirming and informed. Jennifer is trained in evidence-based practices that include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Prolonged Exposure, Multidimensional Family Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Therapy, and Comprehensive Behavior therapy for body-focused repetitive behaviors. With couples, Jennifer uses an eclectic approach informed by training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Level I and II.
Jennifer’s approach is soulful, courageous, and humble. Jennifer works closely with each person or group’s learning and communication style to make sure that therapy is collaborative, accessible and responsive. Jennifer helps clients deeply accept their full selves, while compassionately challenging the beliefs and habits that no longer serve them. She helps clients build clarity and courage around living their best lives.

Ari Lyon, PhD (she/they)
clinical psychologist
Ari enjoys working with teens and young adults, as well as adults of all ages. She has experience treating a wide variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, OCD, depression, and difficulties with emotion regulation.
Ari has a wide variety of clinical experience working in outpatient mental health clinics and college counseling centers with teenage, young adult, and adult clients. She is particularly passionate about supporting people navigating their sexuality or gender identity, and people who have experienced sexual trauma. Ari identifies as a queer person of color, and loves being able to give back to their communities. Ari is trained in evidence-based practices that include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Ari’s approach to therapy is rooted in the idea that clients already have all of the tools they need to be happy and successful, and a therapist’s job is to help the client find them. Ari strives to create a respectful, warm space in sessions to allow clients to explore parts of themselves they may have felt shamed into hiding. Ari believes that self-compassion is the guide to both full acceptance of oneself and needed change.

Aaron Hostetler (he/they)
associate marriage and family therapist
Aaron is experienced in treating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, substance abuse, and issues related to sexual and gender identity. Aaron has lived experience as a queer mental health practitioner and is committed to seeing the LGBTQ+ community thrive. They support teens and adults using an integrative and collaborative approach. Aaron is trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and appreciates working with clients struggling with OCD and anxiety related issues.
Aaron’s training in Somatic (body-mind) Psychotherapy allows them to guide clients through the process of exploring thoughts and emotions on a visceral level, helping to gain clarity and insight from the wisdom of the body. Rooted in a relational, experiential, non-hierarchical, and trauma-informed approach, they partner with clients to support with building resources such as self-compassion, mindfulness, and gratitude. Aaron is passionate about supporting clients on their path towards growth and wellness.
Prior to coming to mindfulSF, Aaron spent many years devoted to the community working in HIV prevention and care research. They have a commitment to social justice and reducing stigma in marginalized communities. This dedication translates into the empathetic, non-judgmental space they create for clients in therapy. Aaron receives ongoing training and supervision from Sarah Carr, LMFT (104418), in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention, Mindfulness, and Self-Compassion.

Bob Stahl, PhD (he/him)
Advisor and Mindfulness Teacher
Bob Stahl has founded eight Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Programs in medical centers in the SF Bay Area. He serves as a Senior Teacher for Brown University Mindfulness Center and formerly at the Oasis Institute for Mindfulness-Based Professional Education and Training at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Bob teachers MBSR Teacher Trainings and Insight Meditation retreats worldwide and is the former guiding teacher at Insight Santa Cruz and a visiting teacher at Spirit Rock and Insight Meditation Society. He is coauthor of 5 books: A Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Workbook, Living With Your Heart Wide Open, Calming the Rush of Panic, A Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Workbook for Anxiety, and MBSR Everyday. Adam Moskowitz (he/him)
Mindfulness Teacher
Adam has been an educator for fifteen years. He is a practitioner of Vipassana (Insight) meditation and has shared mindfulness with youth and adults throughout the last decade. He is an MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) teacher and has trained extensively with the Center for Mindfulness based at the UMass Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts; he is also a consulting teacher with Stress Care, a long-standing non-profit organization serving medical communities in the Bay Area since 1996. Adam is a Mindful Schools Teacher and created a school-wide mindfulness program in 2012, serving over one thousand Bay Area students and their teachers.
Currently, Adam offers services to organizations, schools, companies and individuals. His teaching emphasizes a clear, gentle approach supporting individuals to discover the depth of presence.

Ulla Andrewson, LCSW (she/her)
Mindfulness-based stress reduction teacher
Ulla has over 20 years of experience working in the field of mental health. She completed the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher Training through the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts. Ulla has attended several multi day residential mindfulness retreats and has an ongoing meditation and mindfulness practice.

Beverly Wong, AMFT (she/her)
Clinical Coordinator
Beverly earned her Masters of Art in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University worldwide and also works as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Drawing from her own personal journey as both a therapist and a client, Beverly understands the challenges and stress that come with finding the right therapist. She is deeply passionate about connecting with prospective clients and providing unwavering support throughout their search for the perfect therapeutic fit. Beverly believes in the transformative power of therapy and is committed to making the process as stress-free and comfortable as possible for all individuals. Bringing awareness to mental health care is something close to Beverly’s heart. She firmly believes that everyone, regardless of their background or identity, deserves access to quality therapy.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Beverly loves trying new cuisine, hiking new trails, challenging herself with pole and aerial fitness, and getting her hands dirty in the garden. She looks forward to connecting with you, understanding your needs, and helping you find the support you deserve.
Marcy Reynolds (she/they)
Mindfulness and qigong teacher
Marcy Reynolds is a long-time student of holistic health having taught yoga, meditation, nutrition and western herbalism. She began practicing meditation in the Soto Zen tradition in 1984, and since has practiced a wide-variety of meditation styles from both eastern and western traditions. She began her study of Vipassana/Insight meditation in 1994 and has facilitated meditation classes and retreats through Insight Santa Cruz, Spirit Rock Meditation Center and the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program at El Camino Hospital since 2003. Chronic Fatigue led her to the self-healing practice of Qigong which has been instrumental in her recovery and continues to bring depth, peace and healing to her life and the lives of those who practice with her.
Marcy has studied with a number of Chinese and American qigong masters in a variety of traditions. Since she began teaching qigong in 1997, her group classes and individual sessions have reflected this eclectic training while emphasizing Dr. Bingkun Hu's teachings and Wild Goose (Dayan) Qigong. Marcy is also a veteran teacher in the public schools having taught kindergarten through high school for the last 30 years. She founded and continues to facilitate a nature-based educational program and is a passionate supporter of kids, families, and nature.

Dana Rysavy (she/her)
Mindfulness and yoga teacher
Dana integrates mindfulness practices, with trauma-informed methodologies to support and foster wellbeing. After working 25 years in a corporate environment, Dana followed her passion to help others foster inner peace and balance in a fast-paced world. With experience working in hospitals and the juvenile justice system, Dana focuses on creating safe spaces, using evidence-based techniques that empower her students in their mental and physical health journey. Her classes include mindful movement, breath-work, and meditation often in combination.
Dana completed certifications as a senior yoga instructor at White Lotus Foundation and Niroga Institute. She is certified in the field of Yoga for Mental Health through the Stanford Medicine Yoga X program. She is also a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher through the Center for Mindfulness based at the UMass Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

Carol Morgan, MA (she/her)
Mindfulness teacher
Carol began her journey with Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction in 2008. In order to keep her practice going she joined Insight Santa Cruz. She began teaching MBSR with Bob Stahl’s guidance in 2009 following the teacher training pathway offered by the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. She became a certified MBSR teacher in 2021 through Brown University.
She enjoys the opportunity to offer students the gift of mindfulness they give to themselves. At the same time, she became very involved at ISC, first as a volunteer sit leader and board member from 2012-2015. She became the Volunteer Coordinator from 2013-2023. In 2019, she completed a yearlong training to become a Community Dharma Leader.
Carol recently completed guiding a group of 12 through A Year To Live practice based on the work of Stephen Levine. In 2024 she will offer a Death Cafe, a safe place for those who are curious, to talk about death, through Insight Santa Cruz.
